The number of private insolvencies in Germany continues to decline. In the first half of 2018, 42,846 consumers had to register bankruptcy - the lowest number since 2004. The number of private bankruptcies fell by 5.1 percent compared with the same period last year (first half of 2017: 45,145). This is the result of the new study "Debt Barometer 1st Half 2018" published by CRIFBÜRGEL. Compared to the record insolvency year of 2010, when 69,417 private individuals had to file for insolvency in the first six months of the year, the number of cases fell by 38.3 percent. For 2018, CRIFBÜRGEL expects 84,000 private insolvencies in Germany.
