SUCCESS STORY: T-MOBILE Austria | Fraud prevention in real time
 
​Ensuring a balance between the maximum acceptance rate and minimization of bad debts due to non-paying customers and fraudsters.
With almost 20 years of collaboration between CRIF and T-Mobile, the attention paid to fraud prevention has increased since 2011. Now T-Mobile decided to use the latest automated tool developed by CRIF to prevent fraud: the Fraud Prevention Kit.
 
• CLIENT: T-Mobile Austria GmbH.
• NEEDS: ensuring a balance between the maximum acceptance rate and minimization of bad debts due to non-paying customers and fraudsters.
• SOLUTION: the Fraud Prevention Kit, which can be integrated as an extension to Consumer Credit Check, allows the verification of customer applications based on selected criteria - in real time, meaning right at the start of the application process.
• RESULTS: immediately after the start of the project, the Fraud Prevention Kit was able to identify a significant number of applications made to T-Mobile web shops, which in turn identified and prevented fraudulent cases in the lower double-digit percentage range, translating into five-digit savings (in euros) per month.

THE PROJECT
T-Mobile Austria is a subsidiary company of Deutsche Telekom and consists of the brands T-Mobile and tele.ring. In 2016, it had a customer base of 4.6 million and a turnover of 855 million euros. As is the case in many telecommunications companies, T-Mobile is also increasingly affected by identity theft and fraud due to the rise in online transactions.
